A membrane keyboard is a computer keyboard and the keys of this are not separated and they will have pressure pads with outlines and symbols printed on its flat and flexible surface.

The key will be in the downside in a mechanical keyboard and that is the reason it is noisy. If you need a noiseless keyboard, then you must go with the membrane keyboard.
Mechanical keyboard gives an excellent feedback and also makes it louder than the membrane counterparts, it is more expensive and heavier than it.
So if you are normal user, you can go with the membrane and if you are a gamer, you can go with the mechanical keyboard.
